Governor-Elect Josh Shapiro names longtime top aide, Lehigh Valley native Dana Fritz as chief of staff

Posted

On Thursday, Governor-Elect Josh Shapiro announced the appointment of Dana Fritz as Chief of Staff to the Governor of Pennsylvania. A longtime trusted aide, Fritz is a Lehigh Valley native and a graduate of Temple University who has worked with Governor-Elect Shapiro for nearly a decade. Fritz has extensive experience in government – including as Deputy Chief of Staff in the Office of Attorney General, where she helped the Office take on powerful interests on behalf of all Pennsylvanians.

As Chief of Staff, Fritz will oversee the Office of the Governor and serve as the Governor’s top advisor and staffer. In addition to supporting the Governor-Elect, Fritz will work to build a diverse, experienced, and talented team to help Governor-Elect Josh Shapiro and Lieutenant Governor-Elect Austin Davis carry out their top priorities and serve the people of Pennsylvania.

“I’ve worked with Dana Fritz for a decade – she’s an incredibly talented leader and committed public servant. She has been my most trusted advisor for years, helping me serve the people as Pennsylvania’s Attorney General and leading my campaign team to historic victories,” said Governor-Elect Josh Shapiro. “Dana’s leadership skills, knowledge of the Commonwealth, and sharp instincts are unmatched – and I have complete confidence in her ability to lead our Administration and help move Pennsylvania forward.”

Fritz is a Lehigh Valley native who grew up in Coplay before graduating from Temple University. Fritz has had a long and distinguished career in government and public advocacy, and she has worked with the governor-elect for a decade.
After graduating from Temple University, Fritz started her career working for the Pennsylvania Democratic Party and Senator Bob Casey’s 2012 re-election campaign. Following that campaign, she took a job managing finance and political efforts for then-Montgomery County Commissioner Josh Shapiro – and she’s worked with him ever since. Fritz served as deputy campaign manager and finance director on Josh Shapiro’s 2016 campaign for attorney general, where Shapiro won a competitive 3-way primary and outran the top of the ticket to a historic victory in the general election.
