Gordon H. Schmidt of Doylestown, Pa., passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 in the Wesley Enhanced Living Skilled Care Center. He was 91.
Born in the Germantown Section of Philadelphia, Pa., to the late Edwin and Florence (Rhoads) Schmidt, Gordon resided in Chalfont, Pa., and Cape May, N.J., before moving to Doylestown, Pa., five years ago.
Gordon was formerly employed as a salesperson and former owner with the George Kelso Co. in Montgomeryville, Pa., for 30 years, prior to retiring in 1996.
Gordon was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary in Cape May, N.J., for 18 years. His pride and joy was the Dolly II, a sportfishing boat on which shared his love of fishing with his family and friends.
He was the beloved husband of 69 years to Dolly Schmidt (nee Ladley); devoted father of John Schmidt and wife Jo, and Linda Andrews; dear brother of David (Gerry) Schmidt, Ruth (Dr. Vincent) Zacchio, and Lynn (Andy) Gabriel; loving grandfather of Wesley Schmidt, Drew Schmidt, Jared Schmidt, Katharine (Michael) Kochanski, Courtney (Thomas) Kay, and Ryan (Stephanie) Andrews; cherished great-grandfather of Neveah, Kylie, Chloe and Joy.
A memorial service will be held at Wesley Enhanced Living - Heritage Hall, 200 Veterans Lane, Doylestown, PA 18901 on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at 11 a.m.
