Goodman Properties/Warrington Cares Sprint Triathlon scheduled for Sept. 11

The Goodman Properties/Warrington Cares Sprint Triathlon is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 11, with a start time of 7 a.m.

The event begins and ends at the Mary Barness Community Pool, located at 2501 Freedoms Way, Warrington. The race consists of a 300-meter swim, a 10-mile bike ride and a 5K run through the streets of Warrington.

In addition to the triathlon, athletes have a choice to participate in:

Aquavelo – a two-part race consisting of a 300-meter swim and a 10-mile bike ride.

Duathlon – a two-part race consisting of a 10-mile bike ride and a 2-mile run.

The Aquavelo, duathlon and triathlon are ideally suited for persons starting out as tri-athletes and those who are training for major triathlons. Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers for men and women and for the top three finishers in each age category. The cost is $80 for the triathlon and $70 for the duathlon or Aquavelo. The official timekeeper is DQ Events.

The Goodman Properties/Warrington Cares Sprint Triathlon is the major fundraiser for Warrington Cares, raising over $100,000 over the past five races. Proceeds from this year’s event will provide: scholarships to local high school students; funds for local food banks/pantries; support for local families in need; and assistance to other small, local nonprofit organizations that help the community.

Goodman Properties, a real estate development and management firm, is the event’s Title sponsor.
