Good Shepherd Book Sale returns this weekend

Posted

The annual Good Shepherd Church Used Book Sale returns Saturday through Monday, June 4 to 6, at 1634 Hilltown Pike in Hilltown, at the intersection of Route 152 and Hilltown Pike.

Once again, there will be an abundance of books, CDs, audiobooks and DVDs – all donated and in great condition. And, as always, no single item in the sale will be more than $1. The final day will feature the always popular $5 “Bag Sale.”

“We continue to get great books and other material donated from the community,” said Karen Bossert, chairperson for the book sale, “and expect to be able to offer well over 40,000 items. New this year will some added nonfiction categories, and a large assortment of sheet music.”

One of the trademarks of the Good Shepherd book sale is the amount of sorting that is done for the various topics. The selection is pre-screened for condition, and is neatly arranged.

Fiction is set up alphabetically by author, with special categories sorted for Large Print, Anthologies, Foreign Language, Poetry/Plays, Sci-Fi/Fantasy and Romance. New this year is a section for “Gentle Reading,” and Christian-themed fiction.

There is also a very large assortment of classics and literature.

Nonfiction is sorted into approximately 30 categories. “We are seeing many new titles in this year’s donations that have not been in previous sales,” said Cindy Schwebel, who is in charge of nonfiction, as well as serving as church music director.

And, as always, there is a very large selection of Children’s and Young Adult books, also well-sorted and screened for condition.

The sale will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 4, noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 5, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday June 6.
