Golf outing raises $75,500 for Garden of Reflection endowment fund

The golf outing to support the Garden of Reflection, the 9/11 memorial in Lower Makefield Township, $75,500 for the Remembrance Fund endowment. The outing took place Oct. 7 at the Jericho National Golf Club.

The garden is dedicated to the 2,973 lives lost in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, with special recognition of the 18 Bucks County victims. Ellen Saracini, widow of pilot Victor Saracini, has spearheaded the campaign to build the memorial. A new campaign is raising funds for an endowment to ensure the garden’s future.

Eric Stark, who has been active in supporting the Garden of Reflection since the attacks was honored at the event. He visited all 18 affected Bucks County families within two weeks of September 11, 2001. He linked the families with The September 11th Fund in New York City for financial and other resources and established a support group for family members.

Stark also helped plan and execute the annual Remembrance Ceremonies. He chaired or co-chaired the golf committee for 16 years and co-chaired the committee that raised $2.4 million to construct the Garden.

Most recently, he helped create the Remembrance Fund endowment and raise over $1 million to date to fund it.

Janney Montgomery Scott LLC was the major sponsor for the outing.
