Just Born Quality Confections and ArtsQuest will drop a 400-pound Peeps Chick to ring in 2019 at Peepsfest at SteelStacks in Bethlehem.

The 10-year anniversary of the two-day festival – taking place from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 30 and 31 – is highlighted by a newly added fireworks display during the Peeps Chick Rising Ceremony at 5:15 p.m. Dec. 30.

The family event culminates with the Peeps New Year’s Eve Party, featuring music by Rolie Polie Guacamole as the massive Peeps Chick, standing 4 feet, 9 inches tall, descends for the countdown to the New Year at 5:15 p.m. Dec. 31, followed by fireworks.

Peepsfest has several new events this year: large-scale Peeps sculptures created by local artists, presented by Bethlehem’s SouthSide Arts District Dec. 30 and 31; a live cooking demonstrations for Peeps in the Kitchen by ArtsQuest Center Executive Chef Barry Sullivan at PBS39 at noon, 2 and 4 p.m. Dec. 30; and Grossology, based on the children’s book by Sylvia Branzei, presented by DaVinci Science Center, at 10 and 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Dec. 31.

Other Peepsfest highlights include watching the Mascot Dash and participating in the Kids Fun Run at noon Dec. 30, as well as additional PBS39 activities in conjunction with Peepsfest. For activities and information, visit PBS39.org and steelstacks.org/peepsfest.

Festival admission is free, although a few activities, such as the Family Disco Lounge and Peepsfest® 5K, require an admission ticket or additional charge.
