Jürgen Schweickhardt quietly passed away at his Solebury home on Monday, Sept. 4, 2023.
Known by many in the New Hope area as “George,” Jürgen operated the Mule Barge rides for many years until 1997. A native of Stuttgart (Germany), he visited New Hope in the 1970s, fell in love with the town, and revived the barge rides on the Delaware Canal. He adored his business and his mules. He is survived by his brother, Hans; his nieces, Birgit and Miriam; his nephews, Oliver and Carsten; and his spouse, João (John) Bayma.
