Garrison Keillor to perform in Sellersville

Posted

Garrison Keillor, the longtime host of “A Prarie Home Companion” and author of dozens of books, will perform in two solo shows next month. The first – at 2 p.m. on Oct. 2 – will be held at the Sellersville Theater.
The second show is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Oct. 3 at Mauch Chunk Opera House in Jim Thorpe. The performances will include reminiscences, verse, audience sing-alongs and the news from Lake Wobegon (“the little town that time forgot and the decades could not improve”).
In July of 1974, Garrison Keillor hosted the first broadcast of “A Prairie Home Companion.” The popular radio show remained on the air until July 2016.

Since “Prairie Home” signed off, he has written a memoir, two novels and a collection of poetry. In addition, he creates The Writer’s Almanac, a daily podcast of poetry and historical interest pieces.
Ticket prices range between $35 and $65, depending on the show. Tickets can be purchased at the websites of the Sellersville Theater and the Mauch Chunk Opera House, or via Keillor’s personal website.
