G. Richard “Dick” Patterson, loving husband of Edythe Wheeler Patterson, passed away peacefully in Doylestown on March 24, 2024.

Dick was a husband, father, friend, and beloved figure in the Doylestown fitness and cultural arts communities.

Born in 1937 in Hanover, Pennsylvania to the late Kathryn and Glenn Patterson, Dick graduated from Lehigh University where he studied Engineering Physics. Soon after graduation Dick met and married Edythe Wheeler in New York City. In 1966, they moved to Doylestown where they lived for over fifty-seven years.

Dick enjoyed running, tennis, skiing, and traveling with Edythe and friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Edythe, his children, Brad Patterson (Janet Patterson), Glynnis Patterson (Rip Harris), and Brian Patterson (Jim Lamprakos), and his adoring grandchildren, Declan Patterson and Ada Patterson, and Rhys Harris and Finnegan Harris.

A celebration of Dick’s life will be held at a future date where friends and loved ones will come together to honor his memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in Dick’s name be made to Central Bucks YMCA or The County Theater, reflecting his enduring commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
