Frenchtown studio hosts Thanksgiving Day Yoga Benefit

Posted

Yoga Loka in Frenchtown, N.J., is set to host its annual Thanksgiving Day Yoga Benefit at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 28.

The annual event, a fundraiser for the Frenchtown Food Pantry, is a two-hour class with live music, designed for all level yoga students.

Bonnie Pariser, Yoga Loka founder and director, will lead the class through movements and positions (asana) designed to open the body and heart to gratitude, accompanied by award winning pianist Heidi Breyer.

“It has become part of the holiday ritual for those who return every year. Not only are people glad to gather together with their yoga community on Thanksgiving, they are also happy to have a way to share their personal abundance with others.” said Pariser.

“We end early enough so those hosting have plenty of time to prepare,” she said, adding, “And after the class they will do that with less stress. Food always tastes better that way.”

As Breyer is performing her original music during the asana class, published poet Warren Cooper will read gratitude-themed poems and prose.

“This has become a favorite part of Thanksgiving for many of us,” Pariser said.

A donation of $20 is requested to attend the class, but any donation is accepted. All proceeds benefit the Frenchtown Food Pantry, run by the Frenchtown Presbyterian church. Early donations are appreciated to assist the food pantry in setting up holiday baskets. Donations from people not attending class are also welcome.

Yoga Loka is at 23 Race St. For information, contact Pariser at 908-268-7430 or email at info@yoga-loka.com.
