Four local painters exhibit in three mediums at Baum School

Posted

“Simply Still” at The David E. Rodale and Rodale Family Galleries at the Baum School of Art in Allentown, Jan. 10 to Feb. 7, brings together four local painters in three mediums who explore the age-old genre of still-life painting.

Oil painters Sandra Corpora and Lauren Kindle, Master Pastelist Jacqueline Meyerson and watercolor artist Elena Shackleton create studies of form, color, texture and composition.

Using their chosen mediums, they combine traditional subject matter, such as flowers and fruit, with commonplace objects, including glass bottles and jars, fabric, and even playing cards. Contemporary and traditional styles merge as these artists observe and reveal the subtle details of their subjects.

Join the Baum School from 6 to 8 p.m. Third Thursday, Jan. 17, for the artists’ reception. All exhibitions and receptions are free and open to the public.

Corpora, who has a BFA in painting from Kutztown University, paints primarily from life in the studio and outdoors on location.

Kindle, who finds inspiration in the world immediately around her, is an artist and writer, She earned a BA from Hampshire College, studying arts and classics.

Meyerson, previously a controller of a small electronics firm, teaches a pastels class at The Baum School of Art.

Shackleton attended the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts with a concentration in painting and drawing.
