Flemington Pickleball Club, located at 19 Royal Road, is Hunterdon County, N.J.’s first indoor pickleball-only club.
The club opened in October 2020 and membership has grown rapidly.
“We are blown away by the response to the club. New members join every day and many of our tournaments and events have sold out. The pickleball community is supportive, eager to improve, and always ready for the next fun event,” explained club manager Maria Capone.
The club’s summer schedule includes a camp hosted by top-ranked professional pickleball players. “We are thrilled to be hosting the world’s best pickleball players at Flemington Pickleball Club. We watched them compete and win in the recent U.S. Open, and their skill level is just incredible. We are all so excited to learn from the pros … pickleball royalty is coming to Flemington,” stated co-owner Bob Drinane.
On June 11 and 12, the current No. 1 and No. 3 players in the world, brothers Ben and Collin Johns, will conduct a Pro Camp in Flemington. Ben Johns won four gold medals at the U.S. Open in April, including a gold medal in doubles with brother Collin. Ben Johns is a professional pickleball player and a student at the University of Maryland. Since 2017, the 20-year-old has quickly risen to the top of the sport, including signing a recent endorsement deal and the launch of a signature paddle from Franklin pickleball. Collin Johns, ranked No. 3 in the world, is a former professional tennis player, who now teaches and plays pickleball professionally.

Pickleball – a cross between ping pong, tennis, and badminton – is among the fastest-growing sports in the nation, according to the Sports & Fitness Industry Association. It is played on a court that is about a third of the size of a tennis court and uses a paddle and a pickleball, a colorful perforated hard plastic ball. Flemington Pickleball Club provides paddles and pickleballs for members and guests; they are sanitized after each use.
Co-owners and Hunterdon residents Bob Drinane and Eric Luque, decided to open Flemington Pickleball Club after playing the game together.
“We realized there is a need for additional court space in Hunterdon County, and the idea for Flemington Pickleball Club was born,” stated Drinane.
Flemington Pickleball Club is open 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturdays and 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Sundays. Court rentals are available daily, and the facility is available for private events.
