Flemington man killed in crash

A Flemington man was killed in a fatal accident Wednesday in Lebanon Township, the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s office said Thursday.

“At approximately 6:09 p.m., the Lebanon Township Police Department was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on State Highway 31 involving a passenger vehicle and a bobtail tractor trailer,” said the county’s Acting Prosecutor Michael J. Williams.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2003 Ford Taurus station wagon operated by Douglas Ivie, age 34 of Flemington, was traveling north on State Highway 31. For an unknown reason, he crossed over into the southbound lane and struck a 2020 Volvo tractor trailer. Mr. Ivie was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“Our condolences go out to the Ivie family and friends of Mr. Ivie during this difficult time.”

The accident is being investigated by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office’s Forensic Analysis Collision Team and the Lebanon Township Police Department.
