Flemington Girl Scouts collecting wet cat food for Team Velvet

Posted

Santa will be given some help this year from the Flemington Girl Scouts.
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 21, Santa and his Christmas horses will hold a fundraiser at the Team Velvet Inc. facility, Journeys End Farm, 79 Old Clinton Road, Flemington, N.J., to support the equine mental health therapy services provided for traumatized children.
The Girl Scouts wanted to help Santa and have decided to collect wet cat food to donate to Team Velvet Inc. barn cats Misty and Sparkle, who maintain a mouse-free barn. The Scouts will make their gift presentation to Santa as part of the event.
Team Velvet, Inc. is a nonprofit organization providing non-mounted equine mental health services for children aged 5 through 12 who have experienced trauma. These services are provided by a licensed psychologist at no cost to the families.
The Scouts will be collecting cans of wet food until Nov. 15. To arrange for pickup or drop-off in the Flemington area or for more information, e-mail GSTroop82304@gmail.com.

The fundraiser will feature Santa Rick of Hunterdon (Rick Reilly) and the three therapy horses dressed in holiday garb. Lead therapy horse Velvet will be dressed as Santa, lead mare Precious as Mrs. Santa and miniature horse Little Annie will appear as Elfkin. Families will have a special opportunity to have their family holiday photo taken with their own camera in a unique setting.
A minimum $10 donation per sitting is requested.
Pets, smoking and bringing food onto the farm are prohibited.
