Fastest boy and girl in Petty Run are Del Val’s Hanley and Nolan

Posted

The 28th annual Petty Run at Delaware Valley Regional High School on Saturday, Sept. 11, attracted about 100 cross country runners from six high schools.
Winners of the 5K were Spencer Hanley in 17:47 for the boys and Katie Nolan in 20:52 for the girls. Both of them are Del Val athletes. Girls coach Paul Culcasi noted that this was Nolan’s first race. The Del Val boys are coached by Dan Casserly.
Second and third for the boys were Colin Weber from Manville and Kyle Kasprensky from North Warren. Second and third for the girls were Grace Delisle of Del Val and Michelle Miga from Manville.

The other schools represented Saturday were Belvidere, Warren Tech and South Hunterdon.
The Petty Run was established in honor of successful cross country coach Bill Petty on the occasion of his retirement from teaching. But he returned as a coach years later and is still a volunteer on the coaching staff. He was on hand Saturday morning to greet his fellow coaches.
This year’s run was organized by coaches Culcasi, Casserly and Sue Coles, Athletic Director Bill Deniz and the Del Val All-Sports Booster Club.
