Explosion destroys Buckingham house

Posted

An explosion destroyed a house in Buckingham Township Tuesday, morning and authorities believe it may have been caused by a propane leak.

Buckingham Township Police and Midway Fire Company responded to 4356 Biddeford Circle in the Doylestown section of Buckingham after callers reported an explosion at the residence.

Upon arrival, Buckingham officers and fire personnel found “extreme damage” to the residence, police said. It was quickly determined that all residents were accounted for and there appeared to be no injuries, they said. Authorities believe the house was empty at the time of the explosion.

Buckingham police detectives and officers are assisting the Bucks County Fire Marshal with the investigation. The ATF office in Philadelphia said on Twitter Tuesday that its special agents had responded to the site and would also be assisting the fire marshal in the investigation.

PECO was on scene and cut electricity to the neighborhood while the investigation was active. The area does not have natural gas service, and police said the explosion may be the result of a propane leak.
