Elizabeth Ann Mirales, 93, of Newtown, Pa., passed away peacefully on Monday, Aug. 8, 2022, at home, surrounded by family.

Born in Greigsville, N.Y., on Sept. 1, 1928, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (McTigue) Reidy.

Betty, as she was known, graduated Islip High School in 1946 and attended Woods Secretarial School. She went to work at Lockheed Aircraft Services at Idlewild Airport (JFK), where she would meet her beloved husband of 52 years, Nicholas Mirales.

Betty is survived by her loving family, including her six children and their spouses: Nick and Cindra; Linda and Don; Bob and Sara; Nancy and Brian; Peter and Sabine; James and Laurie; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Ann Kavanaugh; and many nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by her loving husband in 2009.

Betty was a kind and generous woman, quick to laugh and always ready to dance. Her encouraging words, warm smile and enveloping hugs had a way of making everyone she knew feel heard and loved.

Betty had a deep, abiding faith in the Lord and the Virgin Mary, and her devotion was an inspiration to all who knew her. As an active member of Saint Andrew Catholic Church, Betty was appointed to be an extraordinary minister. You’d often find her in the hallways of St. Mary’s Hospital, going room to room giving communion and solace to the sick.

Toward the end of her life she wanted all her family and friends to know how deeply she loved them. One of the last things she said was “God bless you all and have a happy life.”

Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass and Burial, Thursday, Aug. 11, 2022, 11:30 a.m., The Olde Church of Saint Andrew, 135 S. Sycamore St., Newtown, PA 18940. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Betty’s name may be made to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org. www.swartzgivnish.com/obituaries.
