Eastern Upper Bucks Senior Center president Betty Martin retires after 13 years of service

Posted

Betty Martin of Eastern Upper Bucks Senior Center in Ottsville retired after serving for 13 years as the center’s president.

She passed the gavel to Barbara Naska on Dec. 19 at the monthly membership meeting.

Martin was instrumental in beginning the congregate meal program from Bucks County Area Agency on Aging. She has been very dedicated to the needs of the senior center, always putting others before herself, ensuring the members receive the help they need including speakers, exercise and nutrition classes. Her friendly, caring attitude makes everyone feel welcome at their home away from home.

At age 90, Martin will still be involved in various ways including serving as “president emeritus” for one year to ensure a smooth transition. She will also continue to serve as the hospitality committee, sending cards and making phone calls to those who are experiencing illness or the death of a loved one.

Naska, the new president, is active in her church and the community.
