Eagle Scout candidate leads Operation Eternal Gratitude collection at CB South

Donated goods for troop care packages sought by Nov. 3

Posted

Andrew Goldberg, a Life Scout with BSA Troop 172 in Warrington, is collecting goods for troop care packages for his Eagle Scout Project.

A student at Central Bucks High School South, Goldberg is a club officer for Operation Eternal Gratitude, which has over 250 registered members, making it the largest club at the school, he noted.

“Every year our goal is to send 10,000 pounds of donated items to American servicemen and women in all six branches of the military on six continents – many of them being from Bucks County,” he stated.

The club, Goldberg added, “can trace its roots back to CB East following 9/11, when a club was formed to help provide servicemen and women stationed out of the Willow Grove Airbase with family necessities. The club has since grown to all three CBSD high schools. In 2010 the club, the students, and their efforts were recognized and honored by the US House of Representatives.”

For his Eagle Scout Project, Goldberg said he is hoping to collect at least 500 pounds of donated goods.

Items being collected include: coffee (one-pound bags or less), baby wipes, sunflower seeds, beef jerky, Ziploc bags (quarts) ChapStick, foot powder (Gold Bond), boot socks (Dickies), recent magazines, playing cards, cookies, nuts/mixed nuts/trail mix, gum, mints, hard candy (Jolly Ranchers, mints, Life Savers, etc.), Tastykakes, granola bars, power bars, travel size toiletries, boxed crackers/chips, Ramen noodles, individual drink mix (Gatorade, etc.) multivitamins and Sharpies.

No Aerosol, large bags of chips or glass.

The Club collects goods year-round, but items being collected as part of Goldberg’s Eagle Scout project may be donated through Nov. 3.

Donations can be dropped off at the CB South front office, 1100 Folly Road, Warrington, or at collection boxes at the Warwick Township Town Hall and Warrington Post Office.

Goldberg can also arrange a pickup of donations; email halo7615@gmail.com.
