Doylestown Rugby notes: Oct. 21, 2021


The Doylestown Rugby men’s team hosted Wilmington on Oct. 16 and won 62-26.
Matt Frederick was Man of the Match. Try scorers for the Dragons were: Frederick (three), John Nyongesa (one), Julian Bellman (one), Ryheem Powell (one), Sekou Harris (one), Eric French (one), Dave Kornock (one) and Greg Wolfle (one). Kornock kicked six conversions. Wilmington had four tries and three conversions.
Doylestown will travel to play Philly-Whitemarsh on Oct. 30.
In a home match on Oct. 16, the Doylestown Rugby women’s team defeated the Northeast Irish Women, 40-19.
Zahra Batool led the scoring with a hat trick (three). Maddie Groninger, Lisa Rake and Camerra Hines each scored one try. Katie Walston kicked three conversions, and Elyse Garcia added two more conversions.

Next up for Doylestown is an away match against Phoenixville Whitehorse Women on Oct. 30.
The Doylestown Rugby Academy high school girls team hosted the fourth of the 2021 RugbyPA Fall Sevens Tournaments on Oct. 17. They went 3-1, defeating Conestoga (34-0), Play Rugby in Philadelphia (29-14) and West Carroll (31-7). Doylestown lost to Morris (21-19).
Try scorers for the day were Kendall Maday (seven), Siena Accardi (four), Molly Thiebeau (four), Maddie Doyle (two), and Liz Johnston (two). Doyle also added nine conversions.
On Oct. 31, Doylestown will participate in the RugbyPA State Championship at the Greater Chester Valley Sports Complex in Malvern.
