Doylestown Post 175 VFW recognizes essay contest winners

Posted

Each year, Doylestown Post 175 Veterans of Foreign Wars sponsors a Patriot’s Pen Essay contest for students in grades six through eight.
This year over 100 essays were received from Holicong Middle and Butler Elementary schools. Essays are judged by post members and the top essays are presented to the District 8 Patriots Pen chairman.
This year, three students of the top 10 were recognized at a recent Post meeting two from Holicong Middle School: Eleanor Swidorski and Liberty Frith and one from Butler Elementary, Dana McGinniss.

The theme for this year was “How Can I Be a Good American?” Essays included ideas such as being respectful to others to standing up for what is right.
Information about the annual contest can be found on the vfw.org website. All students are welcome to submit their entry to their local VFW.
