The Kmart that has been the go-to discount store for everything from house plants to jewelry and car batteries for generations of area families will be shutting its door by the end of the year, according to Sears Holding Corp., which owns Kmart.
Liquidation sales began this month and will wrap up by mid-December. Similar sales will take place at nearly 100 Kmarts across the country slated for closure by the end of the year, stated a list of store closures leaked by store operators and first published by USA Today.
