In honor of American Heart Month, Doylestown Health is partnering with the Cornerstone Clubs, Sodexo and Friends of The Heart Institute to offer a special event as part of its monthly walking program, Walk With A Doc.
The event will feature interactive, fun heart-health activities for the community on Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Event Center by Cornerstone in New Hope.
Held from 9 to 11 a.m., the event includes heart-healthy breakfast foods, health screenings and wellness information, light exercise led by a Cornerstone Clubs fitness instructor, a health discussion led by Doylestown Health cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. James B. McClurken.
Beginning at 9 a.m., guests will be treated to a free heart-healthy breakfast prepared by Sodexo. Participants will also have the opportunity to take part in free health screenings, including blood pressure, cholesterol, BMI and stroke risk assessments. Clinicians will be on-hand to distribute and discuss important wellness information.
The exercise portion will incorporate “soup can exercise.” Guests are asked to bring a non-perishable canned food item to learn how to use everyday items like cans in their in-home exercise routine. All cans will be donated to a local food pantry. A brief outdoor walk will follow the program (weather permitting).
The event also features a gift for the first 200 registered, free giveaways and more.
The program is free and registration is required. For information or to register, visit DoylestownHealth.org/WWADHeart or call 215-345-2121.
Doylestown Health’s Walk With a Doc program is made possible by a contribution from Doylestown Health’s Friends of the Heart Institute, an all-volunteer group that raises funds for cardiac equipment, programs and education.
The Event Center by Cornerstone is located at 46 N. Sugan Road, New Hope.
