Doylestown Farmers Market features local sustainability author

The Doylestown Farmers Market continues its Meet the Author series from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, with local sustainability author Mindy Mutterperl.

The author will sign copies of “Choosing Sustainability: Your Guide to the What, Why and How” and answer visitors’ questions about lifestyle choices that can help them protect local food sheds, reduce exposure to toxins, support local economies and reduce their impact on climate change.

Available at the Doylestown Bookshop and the Lahaska Bookshop, “Choosing Sustainability” suggests a holistic approach to sustainability that takes into account how eco-conscious choices also tend to support strong local economies and communities.

Mutterperl describes how farmers’ markets exemplify that idea, supporting local economic activity, bringing members of the community together and promoting a fresher, healthier diet.

“Choosing Sustainability” covers subjects from food choices to decisions about waste reduction, home maintenance and even opportunities to align sustainable values with career and financial decisions.

The author, a participant in this year’s Bucks County Book Festival, also publishes Sustainable Choices (, a lifestyle blog on eco-friendly living.

The market is located on South Hamilton Street, between West State Street and Oakland Avenue.
