Dorothy Hoeschen solo show to open at Patricia Hutton Galleries

Posted

Patricia Hutton Galleries in Doylestown will present a solo exhibition titled “Dorothy Hoeschen – En Plein Air and Beyond,” beginning Saturday. A reception is planned for that evening at 5:30 p.m. The exhibition runs through July 2.

“We are very pleased to present a show by an artist of broad appeal whose scope of work includes oils, watercolor, pastel, acrylic and casein,” the gallery said. Hoeschen has won both national and regional awards in multiple medium.

Hoeschen’s paintings have a pulse and a joyful vibe. They glow with life and light and are inspired by her love of the natural environment. Her subject matter can be varied and experimental, but often includes big, beautiful vistas, skies with luminous clouds, majestic trees, falling water and mountains. She loves exploring the verdant landscape, farms and rivers of Bucks County and also paints favorite travel spots such as the Shenandoah Valley and Alaska.

“Most importantly, the viewer senses her emotional connection to her subjects, a connection that is often linked to fond memories.” Not afraid to try new approaches, Hoeschen’s work can range from traditional impressionism to a looser, more abstract and stylized expression. The colors can be bold, rich, and also atmospheric.

Her work is exhibited throughout the United States and in Germany, and is in private and public collections throughout the U.S., Walt Disney World, Coca Cola Company and the Cape May Cultural Heritage Commission. A graduate of Georgia State University, she is a member of Oil Painters of America as well as the Doylestown and New Hope Art Leagues and Artists of Yardley.
