Don’t shop until you drop on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday this weekend; take the time to stop and enjoy a relaxing meal. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from at our local shopping meccas.
Peddler’s Village in Lahaska, where shoppers go in search of unusual gifts at boutique shops, has six restaurants where you can find a full meal, ranging from FresCafe serving breakfast all day plus lunch, to the more upscale Earl’s New American. The popular Cock ‘n’ Bull Restaurant also has the Murder Mystery Dinner Theater on Friday and Saturday evenings if you want to have a little fun along with your meal. On the edge of Peddler’s Village are the popular Porterhouse Restaurant & Brew Pub, Chive Café and Caleb’s American Kitchen.
Doylestown, the county seat, has a Main Street that is kept lively with shops and restaurants. The Main Street Marketplace has Spuntino for wood-fired pizza, Pennsylvania Soup & Seafood House, Andre’s Wine & Cheese Shop for soups, sandwiches and cheese platters with a glass of wine, and Hops/Scotch for beverages that are a little stronger.
Elsewhere in town are Hickory Kitchen, Jules Thin Crust, Genevieve’s Kitchen, Bocelli, Quinoa Peruvian & Mexican Restaurant, Kung Fu Restaurant, Lovebird for fried chicken, Honey for small plates, Station Tap House, M.O.M.’s Maxwell’s on Main, The Hattery Stove & Still, Domani Star, Empanada Mama, Slate Bleu, Cross Culture and Coach’s Steak House. Find local beers at Geronimo Brewing at Lilly’s Jury Room.
New Hope is another favorite when you are looking for something different with a variety of restaurants when you need a break from walking and shopping.
At one end of New Hope’s Main Street is Moo for a quick burger or salad, and at the other end is Dubliner on the Delaware for Irish food. There also is The Landing, Marsha Brown and the Logan Inn. For a half-dozen restaurant choices in one place, the Ferry Market has Cross Culture Indian food, Lima Fusion for Peruvian dishes, Basilico, Mama Hawk’s Kitchen, Good Gyro, Pork Shack , Little Radish for vegetarian dishes and vendors with sweets and alcoholic beverages.
Nearby are the Salt House, Nektar Wine Bar, Karla’s, Martine’s, GreenHouse, DiNapoli’s and Zoubi. In Union Square Sprig & Vine has vegan choices and Triumph Brewery has its own brews and pub food.
In Quakertown, which has antique stores and other small shops, you can dine downtown at Karlton Café, McCoole’s Red Lion Inn, have a brew and a meal at Proper Brewing Company and find Mexican food at Fiesta Habanero. For vegetarian options there is Clean Roots, and to find many casual restaurants at one location there is the Quakertown Farmers Market. The market has the Souper Bowl, Boova Haus for Pennsylvania Dutch dishes, Mama Mia Sandwich Shop, Theo’s Gyros and two Flips and Shakes vendors.
