Del Val’s next superintendent Scott McKinney aims to build on success

Posted

Delaware Valley Regional High School will have a new superintendent on July 1.

He is Scott McKinney, current assistant superintendent of Berkeley Heights public schools. He will succeed Daria Wasserbach, who is retiring after nine years as superintendent.

McKinney offers this window into his forthcoming administration: “I consider myself to be a collaborative leader who works with a team of administrators, teachers, students and families in relentless pursuit of continual improvement.

“Our primary focus must be upon improving student achievement and preparing our students for life beyond DVRHS. This work will require the effort of the entire school community and it is my job to open doors and remove obstacles so that we can accomplish these goals. To this end, we must focus on instructional leadership and support our teachers through ongoing and sustained professional development.

“I hope to build upon the strong tradition of DVRHS by maintaining high expectations and enhancing the school district in a way that it will be a point of pride for our entire school community.”

McKinney holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Bucknell University, where he minored in secondary education, and a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Scranton. He has two sons and resides in Bridgewater Township.
