Delaware Valley Music Club presents “An Evening in Spain”

Posted

In honor of its centennial celebration, the Delaware Valley Music Club, founded in 1920, plans a gala “Evening in Spain” between 4 and 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, at the social hall of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 5194 Cold Spring Creamery Road and Route 413, Doylestown (Buckingham Township).
While the actual centennial date was in 2020, the event had to be postponed because of the pandemic. Now the club is making up for lost time, offering its members and the public a “spectacular anniversary party filled with music, delectable food and thrilling entertainment.”
“The hall will resound with castanets and pulsing Spanish rhythms as celebrated flamenco dancer and choreographer Lisa Botalico performs the drama of flamenco with her dance troupe.”
The music of the evening continues with the rich baritone voice of Keith Spencer, acclaimed locally as well as nationally as a concert soloist and cabaret singer. Violinist and composer Claudia Pellegrini, born in Spain and an honors graduate of the Royal Conservatory Music in Madrid, will entertain, as will pianist Peter Hilliard, music director of the Savoy Company and occasional jazz piano player in the Bob Wagner Quartet.

An assortment of tapas, the traditional appetizers, snacks and canapes served in bars and cafes throughout Spain, will be served, along with fine wines, sparkling beverages and coffee.
The Delaware Valley Music Club, originally called the Salon Music Club, began 101 years ago as a small group of women meeting in private residences to discuss and listen to music. Today it numbers approximately 100 members, both men and women, enjoying regular music programs with their friends and guests throughout the Delaware Valley.
A limited number of tickets to the “Evening in Spain” at $125 per person are available by calling 267-880-6021.
