Delaware Basin Commission announces fracking wastewater and water resolution vote expected at Dec. 7 business meeting

Posted

Organizations in the Delaware River Frack Ban Coalition are spreading the word that the Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC) will be voting on amending regulations governing wastewater produced by fracking and water exports from the Delaware River Watershed for fracking at their public business meeting at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7. The notice of the resolution was issued Nov. 22 but no copy has been made available to the public.

Controversy over the proposal to allow wastewater produced by fracking to be imported into the Delaware River Watershed and water from the Watershed to be exported for fracking elsewhere has been going on for several years, with the focus sharpened when DRBC issued draft rules in October 2021. The Delaware River Frack Ban Coalition has advocated for a vote to adopt the full ban to protect the watershed from fracking consequences.
