Del Val High School stages “Durang’s Nightmare”

Posted

“Durang’s Nightmare; An Evening of One-Act Comedies” will be presented at Delaware Valley Regional High School 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 11-13.
Admission will cost $10. This will be the first live performance at Del Val since the pandemic canceled the final performances of “Catch Me If You Can” in 2019.
The plays were chosen by director Clinton Ambs.
“Mrs. Sorken” is a one-actor monologue, performed by Rin Gatley, that serves to welcome the audience to an evening of theater.
“Funeral Parlor” stars Hannah Fey as the widow at a funeral and Atticus Fiorito as a fascinatingly weird condoler. Other mourners will be played by Grace Diem, Rakelle Felder, Avery Fitz, Abigail Kuster, Hunter Leeds, Josie Pitzner, Matthew Roche and Adrienne Wolfram.

“Medea” features Corinne Hinrichsen in the title role in this parody of classic Greek drama. The chorus members are Hannah Fey, Jess McGlothlin, Hayleigh Marmorato. The other players are Dakota Krouse as Medea’s husband, Holden Hutchinson as the Messenger, and Atticus Fiorito as the Angel.
“Wanda’s Visit” is about a dull married couple, Jim and Marsha (Hunter Leeds and Kailey Bredeson) who are visited by Jim’s high school flame, Wanda (Julia Burchill). Wanda gives them a good shaking-up. Lily Brunell plays a server and the Henchmen are Holden Hutchinson, Rakelle Felder, Avery Fitz and Hayleigh Marmorato.
“DMV Tyrant” stars Julia Burchill as an exasperating Division of Motor Vehicles clerk and Matt Roche as the exasperated seeker of a permanent driver’s license.
“Canker Sores and Other Distractions” is about a divorced couple (Dhruv Marri and Swara Modi), who are dining out and thinking about remarrying. A waitress, played by Hannah Schwallie, is the catalyst for a better understanding. Other diners are Grace Diem, Atticus Fiorito, Abigail Kuster, Josie Pitzner, Matthew Roche and Adrienne Wolfram.
“The Actor’s Nightmare” is Durang’s most popular play. Dakota Krouse plays the part of an accountant who seems to be having a nightmare. He is thrust on-stage and tries desperately to improvise his way through a theatrical performance for which he has never seen a script. His only lifeline is the stage manager, played by Rin Gatley. The other actors are played by Hannah Fey, Jessica McGlothlin and Holden Hutchinson. The Executioner is Lily Brunell.
