David Stier “Close to Home” to open at Silverman Gallery

Posted

Award-winning local artist David Stier will show a large collection of his most recent paintings and drawings in a solo exhibit at the Silverman Gallery on Route 202 in Buckingham Green.

Join the artist for his opening receptions, from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 25 and again from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 2. The exhibition continues through April 30.

“Close to Home” is an apt title for Stier’s life in general and the work he accomplishes in his Carversville, studio and framing workshop.

New paintings, “Neighbors,” “Terrace Shade” and “Old Friend,” are just a few of the selections that convey his connection to the world around him.

“It’s often the everyday objects and places we pass by that are profound,” he said. “For me, ‘Close to Home’ is about finding beauty and the extraordinary, in the ordinary.” He also explores the interpretation of “home” beyond its literal meaning . . . “‘home’ is what we really care about.”

In addition, on April 1, starting at noon, the gallery will feature Stier in its first Zoom talk. The public is invited to join by contacting the gallery and providing their information for the Zoom link. Stier will talk about his process, his latest collection and his approach to teaching.

Born and raised in Princeton, N.J., Stier has worked with The Lewis School there for many years. His oil paintings have garnered numerous awards and accolades at venues such as Moravian’s Payne Gallery in Bethlehem, Phillips, Mill in New Hope and the National Arts Club in New York City.

Stier studied with a broad range of painting instructors while attending the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
