Posted

It is with great sadness the family of David Ronald Baird shares his passing on Nov. 18, 2022. He was 80 years old and a recent resident of Masonic Village at Elizabethtown.

David was born April 28, 1942, in Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada, to Ronald D. and Doris Isabella Baird. In his early years, he was active in the Anglican Church, played hockey, and achieved the highest level of Canadian Boy Scouts and, in 1957, traveled to World Scout Jamboree in England.

In 1965, David graduated with a Bachelor of Science in forestry from the University of New Brunswick, Canada. He excelled in school and enjoyed a Harold Crabtree Scholarship, won the Videto-Hadley Memorial prize for most outstanding forestry student, and was elected class president of the UNB Forestry Society.

David, his wife and sons arrived in Doylestown 45 years ago. From here, he worked as an international forestry engineer and consultant, traveling to nearly every country in the world. He spoke fluent Spanish and French, parts of German, Portuguese and Japanese and made lifelong friends.

David was most proud of raising two sons, sharing in the joy of their weddings, witnessing the birth of his granddaughter, becoming a U.S. citizen, and coaching and mentoring the greatest soccer players Pennsylvania has ever seen, the Buckingham ‘73’s.

He is survived by his ex-wife, Nancy-Lynne Baird; his son, Michael Sean with wife Karen; his son, Kent with daughter Molly, and his sister, Barbara Evelyn Baird.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022, beginning with Masonic services at 12 p.m. in Doylestown Lodge 245 F.&A.M., 55 E. State St., Doylestown, PA 18901 followed by ecclesiastical services at 1 p.m. in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 84 E. Oakland Ave., Doylestown, PA 18901, www.stpaulsdoylestown.org.
