Posted

The Phillips’ Mill Community Association presents “Building an Art Collection” with David Rago of Rago Arts in Lambertville, N.J., as its next Art Talk, at 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19.
Art Talk is a series of conversations with artists from around the region who share their perspectives, passions and art.
Registration required. RSVP by 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, to receive your link to the online discussion.
David Rago began dealing in American decorative ceramics at a flea market in his home state of New Jersey at age 17. He founded Rago Auctions in 1984 and now is partner at Rago/Wright, which owns the three strongest independent auction brands in the industry: Rago, Wright, and LA Modern Auctions (LAMA).

With more than five decades of experience handling 20th and 21st century works, Rago and Suzanne Perrault, his partner and wife, have established Rago as “the preeminent venue” for American and European art pottery, American craft furniture, and contemporary glass works.
Rago has authored several titles on fields of collecting, including: “American Art Pottery,” “The Arts and Crafts Collector’s Guide,” “The Fulper Book,” and “Collecting Modern.” He takes his passion on the road, lecturing nationally and appearing regularly on the PBS series, “Antiques Roadshow,” since its inception in 1996.
The moderator for the talk will be Laura Womack. Formerly a journalist in public radio, Womack is a weaver and dyer who works with traditional artisans in Asia. She is chair of the Phillips’ Mill Art Exhibition.
