Preparing to cross the Delaware

Posted

Washington Crossing Historic Park held the first of two Delaware River crossing reenactments on Dec. 12.
Each December, thousands of people gather on the banks of the Delaware River to watch the reenactment of Gen. George Washington’s 1776 Christmas night river crossing. During the event, several hundred reenactors in Continental military dress listen to a speech by Washington and then row across the river in replica Durham boats.

Peter Hegseth, co-host of Fox News’ “Fox & Friends Weekend” and an Army veteran, narrated the first crossing.
A second crossing is slated to take place on Christmas Day.
