Critique group lays it on the line

Posted
ROOTS Artist Collective, a 30-year-old artist critique group is holding its second-ever exhibition, “New Shoots,” at Touchstone Gallery, 11 E. Afton Ave., Yardley, April 13 to May 5, with an opening reception with the artists, from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 13.

Ten artists will be featured in the exhibition: Joanne Amantea, Gilda Aronovic, Joy Barth, Joanne Donnelly, Deborah Eater, Joy Kreves, Dorine Lerner, Florence Moonan, Victoria Moy and Alice Sims-Gunzenhauser.

Many of the works are personally inspired pieces that explore unconventional painting techniques, such as white on white and multi-patterned paintings. Shape and line are driving forces.

For many of the Roots artists, the use of color is important and often explosive. For this show, color has been stripped away, leaving versatility, skill and “overall interesting work.”

Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday; 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday; noon to 5 p.m. Sunday; and by appointment. For information, email inquiries@touchstoneartgallery.com.
