Country music singer-songwriter performs at New Hope Winery

Posted

Award-winning singer-songwriter and country music star Chely Wright will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at New Hope Winery, 6123 Lower York Road, New Hope.

Wright rose to fame in the 90s with country hits like “Single White Female” and “Shut Up & Drive”; her success continued up to 2010 when she made history by becoming the first country music star to come out as openly gay.

Since then, Wright released a memoir, has been the subject of an award-winning documentary, married her wife, Lauren, and gave birth to twin boys.

In 2016, Wright released her eighth studio album, titled “I Am The Rain.” The critically acclaimed Americana album was produced by Joe Henry and features collaborations with Emmylou Harris, Rodney Crowell and The Milk Carton Kids.

The end of 2018 saw the release of the holiday EP “Santa Will Find You.” Wright released a new Americana EP titled “Revival” last May.
