Council Rock students create painting to benefit Ukrainian refugee classmates

Posted

Thirty-nine youth artists from Bucks County have created one collaborative painting, titled “Sunflowers for Ukraine,” in an effort to raise money to help the refugee children who will be their new classmates this fall in the Council Rock School District.

Each sunflower petal was painted by a local student to show their support.

Eleven-by 14-inch posters of the painting, which read “Peace, Love, & Hope for Ukraine,” are available for purchase for $15 at Countryside Gallery at 2 S. State St., Newtown. The original painting will be sold to the highest bidder via silent auction. Bids are being accepted at Countryside Gallery until July 30.

In alliance with the Newtown Rotary C.A.R.E.S. program, 100 percent of the proceeds from the purchase of the posters and the original painting will go toward helping the 23 or more local Ukrainian refugee children and their families. Countryside Gallery is also the drop off location to donate $25 Walmart, Target and Visa gift cards, which will be distributed to the Ukrainian families.
