Kiley Malloy and Lauren Rowlands of Council Rock High School South have been selected for a 2019 Achievement Award in Writing, given by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE).
The NCTE Achievement Awards in Writing is a school-based writing program established in 1957 to encourage high school students to write and to recognize some of the best student writers in the nation. Only students who are juniors may participate. Schools in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Canada, American schools abroad, and the Virgin Islands are eligible to nominate students for the writing program.
Juniors at Council Rock High School South, Malloy and Rowlands received a Certificate of Superior Writing. Malloy is the daughter of Kevin and Kathleen Malloy of Holland. She is next year’s copy editor for Illuminations, the school literary magazine and president of the Council Rock South French Honors Society.
Rowlands is the daughter of Jeffrey and Robyn Rowlands of Richboro. She is an editor and staff photographer for Illuminations and an attorney on the Mock Trial team. She also plays the violin in the Council Rock South Orchestra.
