Contractor selected for Aquetong Creek restoration

Work on the Aquetong Creek Restoration project moves closer completion as the Solebury supervisors on Tuesday unanimously approved a $474,825 contract to restore the stream on the property, among other work.

The contract went to low bidder Land Tech Enterprises Inc., one of five bidders for the work at the 45-acre tract between Route 202 and Lower Mountain Road.

Work, which includes steps to slow the run of stream water and provide a habitat for fish, is expected to start in the next couple weeks, according to Township Manager Dennis Carney.

In other construction action, there is movement on the removal of the unsafe bridge on the county’s Old Carversville Road and construction of a new one is in sight, according to Chair Mark Baum Baicker.

He said the county plans to award a contract for the work at a meeting this month. Work is to begin in the spring and the bridge is expected to be closed for at least two months, he added.

The supervisors also put several projects out to bid:

- Repairs to the steel metal grate bridge on Armitage Road close to Cuttalossa Road. The steel decking and support beams would be replaced.

- Paving for the Laurel Park parking lot.

- Oil and chip road work for 2020 on Reeder Road and on Ely Road from Phillips Mill Road to River Road.

- Paving in 2020 for Bedford Road, Estates Drive, Blenheim Road, Yorkshire Road and Sugan Road from Kitchens Lane to Route 202.

- Snowplowing for the next three years starting with the winter of 2020-21.

- Baum Baicker reminded the public that the board will accept applications until Feb. 10 from the public to serve on the Library Task Force.

The Task Force will be charged with issues such as the structure of the township’s relationship with the Free Library of New Hope and Solebury and will not get into the issue of the requested increase in library funding, Baum Baicker said.

Applications for the Task Force may be dropped off at the municipal building by Monday with a brief statement of interest and a formal or informal resume. The email address to use is
