Concordia Chamber Players perform at Trinity Solebury

Posted

Concordia Chamber Players presents “Diacritical Marks,” at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 1, at Trinity Church, Solebury, 6587 Upper York Road, Solebury Township.

The program includes Amy Beach’s “String Quartet in One Movement,” built upon three Inuit melodies.

It also includes “Diacritical Marks” for string quartet by Nico Muhly, comprised of eight short movements creating a sense of urgency and rhapsodic lyricism with great attention to detail.

Still in his 30s, Muhly wrote the score for the Academy Award-winning film, “The Reader,” the music for Broadway’s revival of “The Glass Menagerie” and the opera “Marnie,” along with numerous other commissions.

Bartok’s “Piano Quintet in C Major” also will be presented, but will not sound like what listeners have come to expect of Bartok.

Concordia veterans William Wolfram at the piano, Kristin Lee and Yoojin Jang on violin, Daniel Kim on viola, and Michelle Djokic on cello will perform.

Tickets are $25 at concordiaplayers.org/2019-20-season or at the door. Email: info@concordiaplayers.org or visit concordiaplayers.org for information.

Princeton Public Library will hosts a free open rehearsal at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29.
