St. Mary Medical Center is reminding the Bucks County community that qualifying families can receive free family care products, infant and toddler safety items and parenting education classes at its Family Community Center in Bensalem.
The Family Community Center features programs for at-risk and uninsured families, such as the Home Safety Store. The Home Safety Store provides cribs, pack and plays, safety latches, car seats and more to keep their toddlers and infants safe from harm, free-of-charge for qualifying families.
“There is a tremendous need in our community for these common, but often expensive items,” said St. Mary’s Manager of Community Health and Well Being Joann Dorr. “The St. Mary Home Safety Store matches the families most at need in our community with the resources we have available, at no cost to them.”
Dorr also added that programs like St. Mary’s Home Safety Store make a difference for families this time of year.
“The families we serve are grateful for the help the St. Mary Home Safety Store and the other programs at the Family Community Center provides,” said Dorr. “And at this time of year, every child deserves a good holiday. This program allows families to focus more on getting presents for their children and worry less about being able to afford an expensive car seat or crib.”
Another program at St. Mary’s Family Community Center is the new Stork’s Nest program, a points-based system where families earn points for meeting health and wellness goals. They earn points by going to scheduled appointments, participating in education programs, breastfeeding and more. Families can redeem those points to purchase items like diapers, baby clothes, laundry detergent, pots and pans and dishwashing detergent.
The Family Community Center includes programs that address literacy, food insecurity, family fitness, nutrition awareness and smoking cessation.
