Chip or Treat with cats at Tabby’s Place

If black cats are your favorite part of Halloween, Tabby’s Place has just the treat for you.

From noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, Tabby’s Place will host Chip or Treat, a free microchipping clinic and celebration of the sanctuary’s 16th anniversary.

Since October 2003, Tabby’s Place has been a cage-free, no-kill haven for cats from hopeless situations. The sanctuary embraces kitties regardless of age, most medical issues or temperament, making it a harbor of hope for the most desperate.

Cats and dogs alike will be welcome at the free microchipping clinic. Tabby’s Place is offering this service at no cost, as a thank you for the community’s support over the past 16 years. Pre-registration is required by Oct. 23 at

Chips are just one of many treats on offer at the family celebration. Guests, who are encouraged to come dressed in costume (pets too), will also enjoy self-guided tours of Tabby’s Place, complete with trick-or-treating with the cats for kids, fall refreshments and a costume contest, with prizes for best adult, child and pet costume.

More than 100 cats will be available for adoption at Tabby’s Place during Chip or Treat, and donations to the nonprofit organization are welcome.
