The old Boone Farm on Route 413, abandoned since the county took it over to create Core Creek Park as part of a flood control project, will gain new life as the African American Museum of Bucks County. A ceremonial groundbreaking will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, and a fundraising gala will be held at Parx Casino at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2.
The unique, colonial-era home dates back to 1716. Pat Mervine has done extensive research on the lives of the 20-plus owners of this property and compiled this information, including past and present interior and exterior photos, maps, and scans of source documents, into a new book: “Boone Farm: Its People and Place in Middletown History.”
The book will be released as a fundraiser for AAMBC at the gala at Parx Casino. The book will also be available at Commonplace Reader bookstore in Yardley in December, and at various presentations that she will be doing to share the rich history of the property and to raise money for its new life as a museum. The information in the book will also be used to support an application to the National Register of Historic Places.
