Central Bucks Harlequin Club presents “White Christmas”

Posted

The Central Bucks High School West Harlequin Club welcome audiences back into its auditorium this Nov. 18, 19 and 20, for the holiday classic Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas.”
The musical is based on the 1954 Paramount Pictures film by the same name and features the music of Irving Berlin, including many standards like “Blue Skies,” “I Love a Piano” and the perennial title song “White Christmas.”
“White Christmas,” the musical and the movie, are known for their strong dance production numbers as well as beautiful music. Harlequin Club Director/Choreographer Jessica Bostock knew she wanted to bring that same high level of dance to the West production and has the talent to do it this year.
Playing Phil Davis is Jackson Manning, a sophomore and award-winning ballroom dancer. Opposite him is Junior Anna Shea Safran playing Judy Haynes. Safran has performed at the Walnut Street Theatre and Bucks County Playhouse and has extensive dance training.

Ellie Kuhnle (Betty Haynes) and Olivia Davis-Eagan (Martha Watson) have performed as part of the Bucks County Playhouse Youth Company. Other leads include Juniors Riley Malone as Bob Wallace, Garrett Falkenstein as General Waverly and Chelsea Mascioli as Susan Waverly.
In addition to strong dancers in leads, Bostock also has a strong ensemble and is even able to incorporate tap numbers into the show. “Often when a high school includes tap numbers in a show, they actually have to teach the cast how to tap. This year I started with 12 experienced tappers so I have been able to give them challenging choreography that I think the audience will really enjoy,” she said.
“White Christmas” is playing at Central Bucks West High School, 375 W. Court St., Doylestown, and runs Thursday, Nov. 18 through Saturday, Nov. 20. Curtain time is 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday and there is also a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday.
The ticket link can be found at cbsd.org/harlequinclub. Tickets are $15 for adults; $10 for children/seniors $10. Tickets may be purchased by cash or check only at the door.
