Celebrate Hanukkah in Doylestown with Temple Judea

Posted

Temple Judea Reform Synagogue of Doylestown and jkidphilly will host a Hanukkah event and ceremonial menorah lighting for the Jewish community of Bucks County on Sunday, Dec. 18, the first night of Hanukkah, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the corner of State and Hamilton streets in Doylestown.

The event is for all ages and will feature singing and dancing with Rabbi Sigal Brier and Dan Khan, cookie decorating, goodie bags, a raffle basket and refreshments.

In lieu of a traditional menorah lighting with candles or lights, children will be decorating flame hats and will line up to form a menorah for the celebration. There will also be a large dreidel placed at the corner of State and Hamilton streets to commemorate Hanukkah.

“We love gathering around the giant sevivon (dreidel) to sing, dance and have doughnuts, said Brier. “It is always great fun for people of all ages.”

Temple Judea has also announced its Judaica sale fundraiser, taking place through Dec. 2. Judaica items for Hanukkah will be available for purchase via the Art of the Gift website (artofthegift.square.site/shop/35) and can be picked up at Temple Judea on Dec. 16. Those who need to make other arrangements for pick up or delivery should email caring@artofthegift.com or call 267-406-0806. Proceeds from the sale will help to fund Temple Judea’s programs and services in the community.

Temple Judea is a musical, learning, creative, relevant and contemplative community that honors and welcomes all people, religions and opinions. To learn more visit templejudea.org.
