CB Cares Educational Foundation hosts its 16th annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, beginning with an uplifiting opening ceremony at Second Baptist Church of Doylestown, 6055 Swamp Road, Fountainville, at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21.
CB Cares EF said the event is the largest suburban Philadelphia MLK Day of Service on Jan. 21.
Sonja Burrus will serve as the keynote speaker, with special performances by Tamanend Middle School’s Gold ‘n Blue Choir, Second Baptist Church’s Youth Dance Ministry, and the church’s a cappella gospel group, the Back Bench Boys.
Over the years, thousands of volunteers have participated in area service projects, and this year will be no exception with many families making it a day “on” across the region.
Opportunities to participate and volunteer in one of the CB Cares’ MLK Day of Service projects after the ceremony can be found on CB Cares’ website, cb-cares.org. All are welcome. Registration is suggested for service projects; however walk-ins will be welcomed.
There will be a clothing drive to benefit A Woman’s Place at the church. One of the on-site service projects will be sorting and organizing clothing donations that day.
