Sunday morning worship at the Carversville United Church of Christ on Memorial Day weekend included special music from the Jubilant Brass Quintet and participation of Scouts from Boy Scout Troop 64 of Carversville.
The Rev. Robert E. Fogal, pastor, gave a message titled “God and Country.”
Following the service, Scouts from Troop 64 led the congregation to the Soldiers Monument in the Carversville Cemetery for a Service of Remembrance.
The Jubilant Brass Quintet provided music for the service and Scouts led the congregation in the Pledge of Allegiance, conducted the folding of the flag and read the names of the servicemen inscribed on the monument.
Fogal gave some reflections and the congregation was invited to place flowers around the base of Soldier’s Monument.
The service concluded with Taps played by the Jubilant Brass and a benediction by Fogal.
This Service of Remembrance has been conducted by the Carversville UCC each Memorial Day weekend for more than 50 years. The monument was erected by Carversville Public School, May 30, 1882.
