Caregivers’ support group to discuss advice from featured book: “Learning to Speak Alzheimer’s”

Posted

Are you caring for a loved one living with memory impairment? Join The Birches at Newtown during its monthly Family Caregivers’ Support Group with helpful discussions on dementia care and how to manage caregiving challenges on Wednesday, Jan. 19, at 2 p.m., located at 70 Durham Road.

In a three-part series, Daybreak Coordinator Armgard Kucas shares her insight on this quarter’s featured book, “Learning to Speak Alzheimer’s: A Groundbreaking Approach for Everyone Dealing with the Disease.” The 256-page book by Joanne Koenig Coste offers a practical approach to the emotional well-being of both patients and caregivers that emphasizes relating to patients in their own reality. Her accessible and comprehensive method, which grew out of her own experiences while caring for her husband, has proven successful with thousands of people living with dementia.
