The Bucks County Women’s Advocacy Coalition (BCWAC) welcomes citizen action to advance gun safety laws at a free salon event. Refreshments will be served. Space is limited so online registration is required.
The event will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, at Silverman Gallery, 4920 York Road (Route 202), Holicong. Register at bcwac.org/events/.
BCWAC gun safety specialist Peggy Walsh will provide a brief status update on proposed legislation both in Harrisburg and at the federal level. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions, offer suggestions, and take action.
Lawmakers’ contact information and postcards will be provided. Informal networking with each other and BCWAC partners is encouraged.
Invited BCWAC partners include Network of Victim Assistance (NOVA), A Woman’s Place, National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) - Bucks County Chapter, NAACP Bucks County Branch, and The Peace Center.
“The public has been pressing for gun safety laws such as universal background checks for years,” said BCWAC president Kathy Welsh Beveridge. “No significant laws get passed, the violence continues, and the list of victims grows.
“Meanwhile schools are establishing active shooter protocols and even kindergartners are learning about their vulnerability during drills. We hope many members of the community will accept our invitation to this salon and help us press for common-sense gun safety laws.”
