First established in 2008, the Bucks County Tourism Grant Program provided 56 organizations with $574,650 in grants in 2023.
The program is a collaboration between Visit Bucks County and the county, which funds it, in part, from the lodging tax visitors pay when staying in Bucks hotels, bed and breakfasts and home-sharing locations, such as Airbnb.
More than $6.7 million has been distributed to more than 130 organizations since the program began, the tourism program said, in a statement. The grants are used for marketing, special events and exhibitions, project development and capital improvement projects.
The Charles H. Martin Grant, which honors the former, long-serving Bucks County Commissioner who was instrumental in supporting the tourism grant initiative, is given to one group each year. The 2023 recipient was Friends of Washington Crossing Park.
